Weekly Snapshot – 20/07

This week brings a number of key economic announcements. On Wednesday, South Africa and the UK will both release their inflation metrics. Economists expect South Africa’s CPI (YoY) to increase by 0.2% to 4.7%, while the UK’s CPI (YoY) is expected to decrease by 0.1% to 2.7%. Attention then shifts to Thursday, when two central banks will announce their interest rate decisions. The SARB is expected to raise the repo rate by 25 bps to 7.25%, while the ECB is expected to leave its main refinancing rate unchanged at 2.40%.
